Allwear has a history dating back to 7 December 1939 when DIE VOLKSHEMDE- EN KLEREFABRIEK commenced production in Fordsburg, Johannesburg.  The factory was then relocated to Standerton and later Charlestown before the present factory was built in Newcastle in 1976.  In 2000 the Markstan factory was relocated to the Newcastle site.

Currently our factory employs approximately 1 400 people and its location in Newcastle places it in the centre of a growing clothing manufacturing region with a plentiful supply of skilled labour.

The company was initially known as VEKA.  In 1989 the name was changed to ALLWEAR due to a change in ownership.
Currently ALLWEAR is a division of BMD Textiles (Pty) Ltd.
